Part L of the UK Building Regulations is designed to promote the conservation of fuel and power by enhancing energy efficiency in buildings. It is divided into two key volumes:
- Volume 1: Covers regulations for dwellings, requiring fixed internal lighting to achieve a minimum efficacy of 45 lumens per watt.
- Volume 2: Focuses on buildings other than dwellings, setting a higher standard with general lighting needing to meet or exceed 95 luminaire lumens per circuit watt.
